August 2024

We had a packed, fun summer full of events for kids and adults! Here are just a few of the crafts shared with us from our summer craft bags. [photo collage of 6 finished crafts] We have a few craft bags left if you missed out and would like to stop by to pick one up before they’re all gone.

Lego Club

Lego Club continues to meet once a month with leader and librarian Lacie Martin! Lego Club is open to kids in Kindergarten – 5th grades and requires NO SIGN UP. Walk-in one Wednesday of each month from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. and enjoy our Lego stash and other fun activities! 

Next meeting: Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 @ 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Voter Registration 18 and over August 2024

Come register to vote at the library! A deputy registrar will be present to sign you up for two days in August.

Requirements to register:

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or will be 18 on or before the next election
  • Be a resident or will have been a resident of your precinct for 30 days before the date of the next election.
  • Provide two forms of identification:
    • Verification of name – both forms must show your current legal name
    • Verification of address – one form must show your current address    

Monday, August 19th, 2024 @ 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m

Saturday, August 24th, 2024 @11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Summer Book Club at The Lounge! Adults June-August 2024

This Summer we’re bringing book club to The Lounge! Pop in to the library to grab your copy of our book club choice and join us for monthly meetings at The Lounge! Snacks are welcome but outside beverages are not permitted. Drinks will be available for purchase.

 

Meeting Schedule: 7p.m. – 8 p.m.

Helping Hats

Join our mission to make as many hats for donation as we can! We meet twice a month and use the library’s knitting machines, tools, and supplies to make warm weather accessories. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! We’ll teach you everything you need to know! Last year, we used our knitting machines to donate over 120 hats to people in need.

Back to School Night August 2024

Come find us at Back to School Night where we will be available to answer any questions about the library and how to sign up for library cards for your kids (or you!)

The Secret Door (Monthly)

What’s behind the door this month? Each month come in and discover a new surprise hiding behind our mystery door in the stairway! (This was July’s door.)

Did you know there is a site where you can read books for free – without using your library card? Check out Indie Illinois, where you can read local authors including Earlville’s DL Larson! Shown here is When Tomorrow Comes, book 6 in her Douglas Family Saga.

Explore More Illinois Free and Discounted Illinois Attraction Tickets

Explore More Illinois is a cultural pass program that provides discounts at museums, visual and performing arts centers, park districts, and more around the state. 

Adults 18 and older can login with a library card and PIN (last 4 digits of the library card number) and place reservations for attractions and specific dates.

Mendota Area Senior Services

A representative from Mendota Area Senior Services will be at the Earlville Library District on August 21st @ 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. to assist seniors or individuals with disabilities with Benefit Access, Medicare, Medicare D, and Public Aid. Seniors can also find guidance regarding agencies that can help allow individuals to remain as independent as possible.
