Earlville Library District Board Meeting Minutes
6:00 PM Tuesday, February 18th, 2025
On February 18th, 2025 the meeting was called to order by Mary Bender at 6:05PM in the library.
Present were Board members: Mary Bender, Ben Hoffman, Marcia Farley, and Kathy Eager. Ann Hecathorn, Skip Nanzer, and Janice Wolff were absent. Also present was director Paige Frechmann.
Review of minutes from previous meeting: Kathy Eager made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Marcia Farley seconded. Motion carried.
Financial Report: Marcia Farley made a motion to accept the financial report. Mary Bender seconded. Motion carried with a unanimous roll-call vote.
Library Director’s report: Paige reported on many ongoing programs including the success of the quilt program, the Lego wall project, and Dungeon and Dragons meeting.
New Business
Association for the Beautification of Earlville: Matt Johnson presented us with some background of the newly formed Association. He suggested that landscaping the East side of the library might be one of their first projects with plants donated by Larry Beland. The cost to the library would be mostly in mulch and would stay under $200.00. Mary Bender made a motion to accept the Associations offer. Marcia Farley seconded. Motion carried.
Unfinished Business
Lego Wall: Paige showed us a photo of the Lego wall and reported that the kids are liking it. More to come.
New Computers: Waiting to hear about invoicing.
ComEd: Paige found the answer to the discrepancy in the financial report. One payment had been inadvertently entered twice.
Surf Internet: Learned that we need a static IP address to connect to library system. Cost will now be $85.00 per month which is still a good savings.
Plans for Expansion: Paige sent a letter of interest to the owner of the adjacent property. The owner called back and indicated he would be open to negotiations. However, after some discussion, it was understood that much more study would need to take place before such a decision could be made.
Insurance Requirement Change: Paige is working on this.
Elections: Trustee candidates will appear on the April 1st, 2025 ballot.
Elevator Sump Pump: Waiting for new internet installation.
ILA Standards Checklist: No movement.
Announcements: The next Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Earlville Library District.
Adjournment: Ben Hoffman made a motion at 7:42 PM to adjourn. Mary Bender seconded. Motion carried.
